Kirby Legend II/Kirby Heritage Power Switch

The part number for that switch is 110584 which has recently been discontinued. Your best bet is to call local vac shops or even a Kirby dealer if there's one in your area.

Otherwise, I'm sure someone on here has one to sell you.

I've experienced the same thing...

Yeah, discontinuing parts is the best way manufacturers have of killing off older, otherwise serviceable, high quality machines, so they can rope unsuspecting consumers into the two-year replacement cycle with POS bagless plasticrap vacs, which are more profitable for them than selling replacement parts and consumable items like bags and belts.

I had to get a replacement switch for my Legend II a few years ago and found a decent deal for a new one on eBay, albeit in black for a Heritage II. About a year and a half ago, I needed one for a Heritage 1HD and they were unobtainable at that time, although used switches for older Classic/Tradition era machines were readily available and would have worked, but it would have required me to replace the cord. Fortunately, a member here helped me out with one from a parts donor machine they had. There always seem to be people on eBay, parting out working machines because they feel they can make more money doing it that way than selling it complete. It's often a matter of snagging the part you need before someone else does.

Then again, if you keep a watch out at thrift shops, estate sales, etc. you might end up a similar machine at a below-market price. You can let one serve as a parts donor for the other, or even use parts from both to build the best machine you can from the two and have a bunch of spares left over.

The

Black on off switch?
I have 1 I might be able to give. I have 3, 2 of which I paid 5 dollars total for because they required fixing and I was able to fix in a few hours. I'm pulling parts off one end I'll let you know what I come up with.

What

Part do you need. The black switch button or black switch button and whole switch assembly?

Here is why I wish I could have gotten ALL of the machines being liquidated from the Plano shop when it closed in 2019. About 30 Heritage/HII units were scrapped, which would have been great for parting out.
However I only had a finite amount of space and I had already collected more than I could store. Over 100 were saved, which was much better than none...

I

Got a bunch of them. You could've refurbished kirbys and made a descent living doing it too.

Ya

That's what I'm talking. About. I hadn't taken a 16 inch machine apart in a little bit. It's taken apart I just need to unhook the wires off the assembly.

There is a way to carefully remove the exposed button from the Legend assembly and replace the button on the Heritage assembly so that the colors stay correct.
I do not have a spare one laying around so cannot verify how easy it would be to do so. It could just pry out or the switch may need disassembly.
You could experiment with your Legend switch since it is already broken.

This place might have some left you can check out.

It's about time that parts for these older Kirbys have gone away. Nowadays there aren't alot of people that own those Kirbys anymore. Either they've moved on with a Kirby that uses a tech drive or something else. A while ago I picked up a Heritage II from my local vacuum store that was going to be thrown out, the original owner could've gotten it fixed if they wanted to but instead they traded it in for a different machine and I couldn't blame them. The Heritage II is my all time favorite Kirby but I'll admit, I'd rather use a tech drive Kirby because it can handle some carpets that the Heritage II would struggle to use on. Also, the wheels on the Heritage II are plastic which can scratch hardwood floors unlike the tech drive Kirbys since most homes now have hardwood floors. And the hoses are wire reinforced.

Dude

That's great you have your opinion but my ds80 4 roll brush roll hepa bag setup I'd 10 lbs lighter and will clean as good if not better than any g series.
The HD 13 I have with a 4 roll brush (kirby enthusiast 16 inch heritage cleansing better than any other kirbys) putting a 13 inch brushroll gives it more power and is better at picking up than rhe 16 inch.
People use the vacuums parts are needed.
I have the assembly sitting there I just have to unhook the wires. If your interested let me know.

I have a Dual Sanitronic 80 as well but I'd still take a tech drive Kirby over it. I have some carpets in my house that both the Heritage II and the DS80 cannot handle, especially if my Heritage II had a Sanitronic style head. That's one of the reasons why I don't use either of those two anymore, actually I no longer use any Kirby for my house since I've outgrown direct air vacuums.
