Kirby Heritage II - Shampoo Tank Polishing

Hi everyone,

I recently got the new in box Kirby Heritage II and the shampoo tank seemed to have some superficial scratches and fingerprints which more or less surfaced with age. My tried and true Meguiar's PlastX - Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. You can find it at any auto store, and a bottle lasts forever. I've used it to take swirl marks out of plastic wood trim in my old car, as well as scratches out of piano black finished appliances.

Here are a few pictures of the before/after of the shampoo tank. I think the results speak for themself! I always use microfiber cloths when polishing.

Thanks Bill - it also seemed to remove a lot of the yellowing of the plastic as well. Might work on other older plastics too. Good stuff for sure!

And thanks for sharing this great tip! Vac shops can get this spray called Vac Polish (or something like that) that's for this purpose, but I assume that would be hard to get ahold of....

Just out of curiosity, is this safe to use on plastic with lettering? Say perhaps the top of a upright's powerhead with lots of lettering? I have SEVERAL vacuums that may be in good shape, but this would help rejuvenate their appearance....
