Kirby Heritage II - Problem with flood light

I had just spent six dollars for a new light bulb for my Heritage II Kirby. I replaced it because the old bulb was blinking. Now it does not work at all(after I installed the new bulb). I am quite sure it was installed correctly. What could be the problem? Is the socket mechanism worn out? After all; the vacuum was made in 1986, and that part is probably the original.

Sounds

Like the headlight lens assembly contacts are not in the slots,. Make sure they are not bent over, and seated in the holes.

Replacement headlight parts:
108979 - headlight lens cover (models 3CB/L2)
109273 - headlight bulb (120V, single contact) (models 1CB/L2)
110878 - headlight wire w/terminal (models 3CB/L2)
111678 - headlight wire insulation tubing (models 1CB/L2)
