Kirby Help?

I have a Heritage II. How do you remove the logo/clip and the emptor from the bag? I was thinking about washing the bag by taking my Bissell Proheat and extracting it from the inside. THe bag smells like dirt.

Then my handle seems to lean forward. Any ideas on how to fix this?

On the bottom side of the bag hanger (logo/clip) are two metal tabs -- one on each side. Just reach underneath and bend them down a little. You can then slip the bag off. To remove the Emtor from the bag, simply grip the bottom of the bag and roll it up. The bag springs on the Heritage series are very stiff, so you'll need a little leverage and stability. I achieve that by leaving the Emtor on the vacuum. You can wash the bag in a washing machine. Turn it inside out and vacuum it. Then toss it the washer and wash on cold, gentle cycle using Woolite or other mild laundry detergent. Then hang it up to dry.

Handle Spring

Does the handle spring still have tension on it?

Where is the handle spring? It looks like there is something metal that stops the handle from going an farther is curved and not hitting where it needs to be. I hope I'm explaining this right. The part that is connected to seems very loose.

When you put the handle on, a pin slides through the handle, then into the bell housing, and then through the other side. The handle spring is on the inside of the bell housing where the handle pin goes through. If it is busted or too loose, the handle itself will feel loose or the handle will simply fall when let go. To repair it, you'll need a special spring winding tool that Kirby sells.

Hello & good morning Nate.

Bill nailed most all of the info above for your Kirby Heritage II.

The yoke may be slightly bent out in front; & if its been this way for quite a while, it may have rubbed & worn away on the shell casting. Sometimes the tab can be bent back, this may prove to be only a temporary fix, depending on if & how badly it may be worn.

One thing that is not mentioned above, if it's loose, & could be the problem is, the little 'tab' on the handle fork yoke, (what you slip the handle into), may be broken off.

(If you'd post a photo or two of it, it may help assist you better.)
