Kirby G6 Tech Drive - Neutral / Drive N-D Lever repair

Hi.

The Neutral Pedal Cam assembly on my trusty Kirby G6 recently fell out...

So I've taken everything apart with the help of a couple of useful YouTube videos (link below) and found the Transmission Lever Bracket and Bracket Cam Assembly Neutral Pedal, and I've worked out how to re-assemble everything, but I've got a spare thrust washer that I can't see on any of the videos or cut-away diagrams of the tech-drive transmission.

I'm thinking it goes between the cam lever and the back kick plate, when you place the cam lever back on the splined shaft.

Does anyone have a link or image of the full assembly that shows the washer in place?

N/D Lever Repair

No link but your right. Put it together and order a new one. Some people glue them. I don't. They are not that expensive. The main thing is when they come apart Don't use the machine until you get all the parts out---that little spring washer is very light and will blow around and go in the transmission. Not good. Makes more work repairing the transmission.

Yes I got all the parts out.. including the washer..

but I was asking where the washer should fit in the assembly... but on second look, it seems the only place it can go is on the splined shaft before the cam lever after it's placed through the black plastic plate.

The original cam didn't seem to be glued or epoxied on, it looks to just be a push fit...

Any how -- I've got it all back together and it seems to be working fine. If it falls out again maybe I'll epoxy it next time.

So my trusty G6 is still working a treat after at least 16 years, and I got it nearly new with a full tool set and carpet shampooer as a bargain from someone that couldn't lift it upstairs, and they only asked the price of the cheapest Dyson at the time.... which was about £275 I think...

Best bargain ever..

Sorry----I wasn't very clear when I said your right. I meant to say you were putting it together right. My experience is once it comes apart just putting it back together it won't last long. I have been repairing Kirby vac's for over 60 years for customers. So I think different than you guy's. I don't glue and patch -- with me IT's Do it once Do it right Can't make any money doing it twice Come backs are not green backs-------- Greg---- PS when is goes I would get a new N/D shift lever assembly.
