Kirby Customer Complaints ( Shocking)

Poking around on the web looking for information on my older model Kirby I was shocked to read all the negative comments by people who recently bought a modern Kirby Vacuum. It seems they immediately complain about how difficult it is to use compared to other machines. I also learned that Warren Buffett’s gang at Berkshire Hathaway owns Kirby , never knew that ? One women stated she paid $4000 for her Kirby, how often does someone justify that price for a vacuum ?

A lot of consumer complaints are due to the direct sales methods. Other complaints are simply that the new owner has not taken the time to learn how to use it properly. Others complain due to buyers remorse.

I have been able to get what I considered a fair price on a NIB never used Avalir from a Kirby Dealer, I also used to know a local Kirby Dealer. A very nice guy who got his own dealership. With that said, their are dealers who get their stock from other dealers. They obviously have to sell them for more than what a distributor has to.


 


If they know you are serious, you can bargain with them and get a decent price without paying an arm and a leg. Or  you can get a refurbished off of ebay, but you need to read their feedback and rating. Also the good ones will


tell you what exactly they did to it, such as new brush roll, rebuilt tech drive, carbon brushs, etc, etc

You can search any brand, complaints and find them.
Some Kirby salespeople are unethical, as are FilterQueen, Rainbow, Aerus, Tri Star.

You should never pay retail, and never buy on the spot. If you do buy, there is a cooling down period in every state, where you have three days to back out of a sale that was made in your home. In some cases this also covers sales not made at the company's place of business.

So if you walk out of the home show with a brand new something or another, you have three days to resend the purchase.

@jpsbgt Vacuum sales people are generally sketchy. Add the door-to-door aspect to it as the perfect strom. I would never recommend somebody buying a vacuum from a door to door salesman.

I would agree that the Kirby is more difficult to use than most other modern vacuums.

They're lucky a Kirby won't clog when they pay $2 grand for a "wonder vacuum" and never maintain it. Every single vacuum I see turned into Goodwill is packed solid with debris or has some sort of clog.

It's a lot less likely to clog than a bagless though. That's for damn sure!
