I bought another classic III (now I have two, so I can make one good one). and this one has the original bag assembly. My question is, how can I completely (do a relatively good job) of cleaning the bag. This bag is different in that it doesn't have a inner bag, so the inside of the bag is very dirty. Is it possible to wash it in a washer (like the G-series Kirby bags) or do have to buy a new bag? Thank you all in advance.

Hi

Hi Chris.

I washed one of mine in the washer before ok.
Just empty the bag. Turn it inside out. Vacuum it well with another vac.
Then once all the excess dirt is gone I pre wash mine in a bowl with detergent/warm water by hand 1st to remove the bulk of the dirt. Then put it in the washer on a warm but not hot cycle.
Once the bag is washed and drying I put the washer on a wash and rinse cycle to make sure the washer is clean for next time:o)

Hope this helps.

James, It's funny that you mentioned the "Make sure the washer is clean the next time". My wife got mad at me after I washed a G6 bag :( Thank you for the advise for cleaning a original classic III bag.

Are you

Talking about the clothes washer or the dish washer? I wouldn't dare put mine in the clothes washer. Be afraid the agitation would ruin the bag. I know the dish washer works wonders on parts cleaning. Engine parts, valve covers......... All while the wife is AWAY LOL.

Using the Washer

I washed the bag for both my Omega, and D-80 in my front load on hand wash cycle with Woolite for Darks and cold water.

Wash inside out, and then hang to dry, DO NOT dry in the dryer or there will be shrinkage.

The hand wash cycle doesn't agitate, but gently rocks the drum back and forth.  A little fabric softener will help plump up the fibers again.  I gently pressed with a cool/warm iron.  Looks like new again.
