My Kirby Classic III had a problem with the handle pin slot where the handle pin couldn't come out. I managed to get it out, and found that the slot seemed misaligned, and that there were some cracks in it. I believe it needs to be replaced. Where could I find the replacement parts, aand how could I repair it?

Can you post a photo of your issue? I can help with most anything vintage kirby, but can't quite visualize your problem.

Sounds to me like the Handle spring tube is what is broken on his vacuum. I have my Classic Omega apart and was trying to put the handle pin in and found the same thing, the pin wouldn't go all the way in. I took it apart and the tube that the pin goes through is broken on the other side of the spring. That shaft does come out so you would need a new shaft installed. Its kind of tricky to get it all back together. I have the handle spring tightening tool which makes the job easier. The tool is is available from Hesco and sometimes I see it on Ebay, but its not cheap.

ive done several handle fork spring replacements. and yes the tool cost me 32$. the two common things that break on handle forks is springs and spring shafts. usually one or the other, not both though.

New problem

I managed to get the handle pin back in, but I removed the screws on the sides and bottom of the main unit, and I can't get them back in. How can iI put the machine back together again?
