My brother gave me a Kirby Classic 1-cr that still works great. What I need to know is what disposable filter bag does it use and where can I get them? There are no numbers on the bag except 216 which is stamped near the top of the bag. The bag in it now has a sleeve that is held on at the bottom of the machine with a spring type holder. The outer bag is a gold pin striped bag without any labels. This machine originally was owned by a friend of mine who bought it in the early 1970's. I would like to still use it if I can get more filter bags for it.

Being sold from early 1970 through the summer of 1973, this species of Kirby did not originally take disposable bags. The first Kirby to do so, genuinely, was the Tradition, introduced in summer 1979.

What you have is the bojack F/G bag converter which, by many accounts, restricts airflow.

However, you can retrofit a Heritage II/Legend II Mini Emtor bag assembly to this if you wish to keep using disposable bags. You may call Kirby at 1-800-437-7170 and ask them whether or not they have the 187189 bag conversion kit. Otherwise, you can make that out of these following parts:
* 181185 Mini Emtor body
* 188087 round rubber gasket
* 190084 outer bag assembly
* 190384 fill tube
* 190484 top adapter
* 191182 tube tie
* 191362 bag chain/loop (original part for your vac)
* 191669 bag guard, brown (original part for your vac)
* 191762 bag top wire hanger (original part for your vac)
* 191869 bag cap, brown (original part for your vac)
* 197294 Micron Magic disposable bags (3 pack)
* 197394 Micron Magic disposable bags (9 pack)

Buy Eureka type F and G bags, and you'll be fine. That's what the conversion bag you now have, uses. Your Kirby will be fine and work properly with a new disposable bag, which you can find at virtually any vacuum shop or online.

I don't care if this machine is a bojack. It works well and now I know which bags to get for it. It actually works better than the cheapie year old Hoover that I had that quit working recently. Thanks for the information.
