Kirby 519 Armature question

will a d50 armature work in a 519? I can't seem to find anything anywhere for the OEM replacement style for a 519, my 519 the commentator is very badly worn down likely from its last owners, or if anyone knows which ones will fit in it, it would be appreciated as id like to keep this machine as long as I can

It will not. The coil and housing are too small it won'
t fit.
2 speed coil and 2 speed motor are bigger than single speeds.

the coils are fine, the armature is just looking bad, the machine still runs but Im concerned about it looking alot like this example, I've never seen a motor commutator this worn down, but this about the same condition of my 519's

Is armature with all bearings and bearing plate. The tgrust washer and other washer are taped on the bottom bearing.

I have a hunch, I think this particular 519 may have ran on DC power, or just had a brutal life as ive never seen even in DC applications a motor this bad, maybe the brushes get low sure but thats expected, not the copper to wear down

If the vacuum was used in tool & accessory mode more than carpet mode, the motor will spin faster and at a higher RPM which will cause greater wear to the commutator bars over time.

Another rather more simple factor - it was used a lot, for a long time. ie. a neat freak that vacuumed every day, every other day, for years or maybe decades.

But its just a mystery what would have worn this machine down so much, unless its not had a real servicing before I got it, I do have the original manual with it and its purchase date.


If these machines had hour meters on them... lol


 


The 509 I have is  76 years old and I think was tossed in a closet or basement and forgotten about, only really has some corrosion, and slight rust on the shielded cable for the safety switch, its the oldest machine I have

got the "new" armature in the old one apon inspection looks like its the original one matching the 59 date code on the manual, the machine and now the armature, so not a bad life span for a vacuum
