Can anyone give me a step-by-step tutorial for replacing front and back bearings in a 1CR Kirby? I know how to get the housing off and remove the fan. What happens next?

You need a bearing puller (part T127A for the rear bearing).

Replacement bearings:
1155 - rear
314990 - finger spring for part 1155
1157 - grease retainer washer for part 1155
1160 - front
116884S - front bearing plate complete

If you've never replaced vacuum cleaner bearings, it's not a task for the faint-of-heart. I just had new bearings put in my Kirby Legend II. Rather than do it myself, I took it to Boulevard Vacuum where the repair technician had the new bearings installed in a jiffy -- and with no bashed knuckles, torn fingernails, gouged palms or pinched skin between my fingers!
