correction - it would make more sense to say that at some point in the "previous" decade - the 1980's - Ryobi started making Singer and Kenmore vacs in the usa..... 
But I bet someone else here can fill in the details of when Ryobi of Japan did this.
It's amazing how many companies ended up making Kenmore vacs over the years! Whirlpool, Matsushita, Sanyo, Regina, Electrolux, LG of Korea, Ryobi of Japan, and now TTI of China!
