I finally found a nice Kenmore Deluxe Jr. To go with my Kenmore Deluxe of the same year. This will be my first restore of the year. I look forward to cleaning it up and making it look like new. Everything on it is original, and in good shape. It also runs nicely.
I seen that for sale. I'm sure .it'll look as good as it's bigger brother.
I have a bee vac. Iirc model H and a bee vac junior. I have a olderGE and the handvac version.
I do like kenmore but $150 plus shipping for a rough kenmore with no brush roll I'm not biting.
You have good luck with kenmores too.
I decided to post some more before pictures. This vacuum had some masking tape raped around the bag connector, but I was pleased to see that it was intact but just fit loosely due to the fact the connector gasket was dried out and needs to be replaced.
The cord and plug are in great shape, and the handle paint is also looking good. The bag clip is not made of metal, but looks to be plastic or Bakelite. The bag is in nice shape with two very small holes from the bag support wire inside the bag. These can be patched easily.
I was wondering how you would adjust the roller brush on this little vac and I found the answer on the two roller brush mounting blocks. I'm not sure if they are made of wood or an early composite material. after cleaning them I noticed there where holes drilled on three of the four sides of the roller brush mounting blocks That are numbered 1, 2, or 3 .
The holes in the blocks that support the roller brush are slightly off center, so depending on what side you use changes the height of the roller brush. This is where having the users manual would come in handy. The bag cleaned up nicely as well.
Like my Kenmore Deluxe, this Kenmore Deluxe Jr. cleaned up nicely. To Hoover300 thanks for the heads up. I did not tear this motor down. I checked the motor brushes and they are in great shape and the motor runs strong and smooth. My father would say "there are always things you need to check, but if it's not broken don't fix it". I fabricated a new rubber gasket for the bag and it fits nicely now, no need for masking tape.
In picture 1, the motor is running showing the bag inflated. In picture 4, shows the roller brush spinning. If you notice also in picture 4, there is a part missing.... The roller brush guard didn't come with the vac. I went back and looked at the eBay pictures and it indeed had one. I got in touch with the seller and asked if he still had it, he apologized and said yes I do, and said he would get it into the mail for me. I lucked out again. It's nice to have both of the 1935 Kenmore Deluxe models in my collection. I will post a picture of them together soon.
Here they are together. The 1935 Kenmore Deluxe and Kenmore Jr. Deluxe. I'm thinking about building a shadow box display case for them. Thanks for the comments and feedback.
Maybe do some steps. Put the hand vac lower and regular sized the next step up.
You could maybe get wood baseboards and put along the bottom. Of the step and put little lights kind of like a museum exhibit.
