well i just got back from testing the kenmore carpet cleaner, and it apears to work, but it smells like burning motor and has a long wind-down.is the motor shot? it also it missing the front plastic shield that carries water into the vacuum and
the brushes won't spin.is it worth repair?

Hi Alex

that all depends on if you have a dealer near buy that can sell you the parts and if they are cheap enough.

I would first price a otor and that front cover and then decide, if the motor smells like burning it usually means its gone.

I had a older model bissell pro heat in my shop yesterday that smelt bad and sounded terrible , all it was was adamaged 608 bearing . I replaced both and saved the customer a nice sum of money instead of replacing a motor.

ask the factory and they will tell you its sealed motor. mmmm smells like bs to me , ten minutes and the right off the shelf tools and I had replaced the bearings. If you use top quality bearings the thing will last a life time , remember the bearings they use in these machines ar good but not top shelf , it would make the motor to expensive
