There were also B-3--B-6 3 brush polishers from 30s to 50s but the B-7 and later are better and still a great choice for hard floors.
As with many polishers some Elux have added weights for proper pressure on brushes.
Brushes--I think the B-8 brush will fit the B-7 but the B-7 will not fit the B-8.The B-9 changed to a 'twist off'brush that should NOT be used on B-8 and B-8 brush should NOT be used on B-9.Pads are same except for some B-7s with different brush holders.
B-7--Was hard floor only machine with T shaped handle and 2 speed switch.Some had small metal tank for liquid wax.
B-8--Added shampoo parts for the increasingly popular wall to wall carpet as well as continuing as a great polisher.Was 1 speed.Some had removable cord as on Mo L vac.
B-9--Added more plastic parts,cordwinder and trigger on handle for shampoo tank.Polishing brushes were often optional as most customers used as shampooers.
