I ordered a Royal Everlast!

Hey there!

Not sure how many of you are on YouTube, but I'm on there, and this is my first post on vacuumland! I just ordered my first royal vacuum. For years I have scrolled past them on sites, never seen one in person for sale. It's a royal 8200 in "like new condition" but who knows, everyone has their own opinion on conditions. I have seen a lot of posts on here for royals and was wondering what I should do to clean the bag if it's smelly when I get it? I know it's not like a Kirby bag that detaches. Alos, what are the best filtering bags and a good brushroll replacement? Also can anyone tell me about anything about the specific royal im receiving soon? I know it's a relatively newer model.

You say you had come across an Everlast 8200. This one has the flip-up headlight, but no chemical chamber.

The disposable paper bags used on this model are Royal type B bags. The Micro-Fresh version is probably what you want.

If you desire a better brush roll, order part no. 2-673273-000, which is similar to the brush roll already supplied, but also with stiffeners.

Royal's are good powerful vacs!!! Get the best bags for it, like I bet you will, I took mine off the vac and washed it just like you do a Kirby.  Detach the chrome chain at top, and turn the bag connector off the exhaust port!

Thank you! Kind of a bummer that it doesn't have the scent chamber . But alsonot the end of the world considering there really isn't anything to put in there anymore lol. I'm definitely going to check the bags out and look into that brushroll. I'm hoping I don't see a huge difference in the performance of the brush on the vacuum. I hope it pulls itself along like the ones I see on YouTube!

I had a feeling I'd need to twist it off to wash it, just doesn't seem like it can be thrown into the washing machine like the Kirby's are able to (though I have never done that). I have also heard great things about the royals! Just hard to find anything about them lol. I'm for sure going to post vids on my channel once I get into home. Hopefully it doesn't need anything. I put some pics up for people to see!

Congratulations! You will love your Royal Metal. A couple things you will notice compared to a Kirby Generation is the brushroll is more aggressive on the Royal & beats the carpet a bit better due to the brush stiffeners, & it's a little easier to push & pull due to the large wheels.

The outer bag on your Royal can be removed very easily. You will see a metal cuff at the bottom where the bag attaches to the cleaner. Simply twist it off. It's just like a Kirby bag, but without the Sani Emtor. You can then hand wash it & then hang to drip dry.

You can get paper HEPA bags & HEPA Cloth bags for the Royal Metal, but the HEPA Cloth bags are VERY HARD to find. What I have done with my Royal Metal is adapted the bag fill tube to take a Kirby Sentria F-Style bag. All that you need to do is take some clear packer's tape & scissors from a nailcutting kit & wrap the hole on the fill tube. Do this a couple layers at a time, cutting away the excess tape as you go, & try putting on the bag each time until you get it fitting nice & snug. Another benefit besides the Kirby bags being easier to find is generic bags are also available for it, & you can buy them in bulk on Amazon & Ebay. I use these bags made by Crucial Vacuum in my Royal, & they work great.

Thank you! I've also heard that you can use hoover A bags and some use Y bags? I don't know if I want to do any retrofitting on it. But I definitely don't want to use paper for too long, though it comes with some paper bags. From what I've been able to tell of the pics I had (there are more) it appears in excellent condition and the price I couldn't pass up!

The synthetic-Filtrete style B Royal bags have tio be specially ordered by your vacuum dealer-or I guess you can find them online-come in 2 packs.They are more expensive than the Filtrete style Kirby bags.I converted one of my Royals to use the Kirby F-type bag.Not hard to do.The Kirby bags are easier and cheaper to find.

Thank you! But as I said, I really don't want to retrofit anything. Especially with it being a newer model. Maybe if it was old and beat up I'd consider it. I keep looking for the cloth bags online but it seems like no one specifies if they are cloth. Most of them say paper, but if they say nothing about the material I'm also going to assume they are paper. I believe someone told me I can use hoover A bags.

Hi there, johnsmith96! Welcome! It looks as though you have an excellent vacuum coming your way.

Hopefully the outer bag won’t be too dirty. I’d bet that the most it will need, if anything, is a light vacuuming of the inside with another vacuum.

I agree with your thinking about not modifying the vacuum. I, too, have heard that Hoover Type A bags are a perfect fit. If this is true, then you are in luck; synthetic HEPA Hoover Type A bags can be had quite easily on Amazon. I use these in all of my Hoovers and have been impressed. I think they are worth a try.

Yes it's very exciting! And thank you, I have mention the type A bags a few times and nobody had really said much about it. It's also very difficult to find which bags are cloth that Royal offers. Because a lot of the time it seems people who are selling it aren't vacuum experts (go figured ha) or vacuum stores. So the most they put is type B Royal bags. and I think I did find some but they were $15. I did find some generic cloth type B Royal bags but it also says they are Hoover type B bags through a vacuum store chain in Florida.

If you don't mind me asking, are you the same John Smith that is on YouTube? If you are, I love your videos! You do a excellent job comparing vacuums & explaining the pros & cons for each one.

As for using the Hoover Type A bags in your Royal in place of the Royal Type B bag, it WILL NOT work. The Hoover A cardboard collar hole is just a smidge larger than the Royal B bag. I had thought of it myself years ago when I got my first Royal, as I also owned a Hoover Elite, & as Brooomvac noted Hoover A HEPA Cloth bags are pretty easy to find in generic form on Amazon. You would have to wrap the bag fill tube with packers tape as I said above to make a Kirby bag work.

As for the generic Hoover Type B HEPA Cloth bags you found thru the vac shop in Florida, that makes sense. Back a few years ago, TTI was cranking out a 8 lb upright in both Hoover & Royal brandnames, household & commercial versions. The Hoover household variant was called the Hoover Signature.There was also a yellow one with a different name that escapes me now, & they also made the Aerus Fresh Era lightweight upright before Aerus rebadged the Tacony 8 lb uprights. One other interesting fact: Perfect Commercial was also using the Type B bag on their knockoff of the Sanitaire uprights. A fellow collector suggested that bag to me when I got my first Royal & was trying to figure out a good, cheap HEPA Cloth bag for it. That bag is EXACTLY IDENTICAL to the Hoover/Royal Type B bag, & can also be found in bulk. See the link below.

But, why would you have a issue "retrofitting" your Royal to take Kirby Sentria bags? You do realize if you use ANYTHING but the genuine TTI Royal/Hoover Type B bag, you're not using the cleaner as the "manufacturer's use & care" recommendations & instructions would say in the manual. If you use ANY kind of generic HEPA Cloth bag, even if it's a Hoover/Royal Type B HEPA Cloth bag for the sake of saving some money & convenience, you have "modified" your cleaner, just like if you "modified" it as I suggested above to use a Kirby bag. I don't know about you, but personally I am a huge cheapskate....I will buy the cheapest HEPA Cloth bags I can find, especially if it's a cleaner I use a lot or I know will go thru bags quickly. Plus, you can easily undo that "modification" anytime by simply cutting off the tape off the bag fill tube, & if you ever did sell it, I am sure the new owner (assuming it's just a ordinary person, not a collector) would appreciate the "modification" you made, knowing the Kirby bags would be cheaper & easier to find.

Yes it's me haha, in the flesh. I'm not buying the machine new, so I'm not really concerned with following what the use and care of the manual says. But my main concern is doing something wrong in the process and there being a leak. I'm a tedious person, and I like to think that I'm pretty good at problem solving/making things work. I'm not concerned about saving a couple dollars, mines more of finding a steady replacement that I can rely on, that fits like a glove. I don't want to have to toy with it. I know the tape can be undone, and I'd be willing to do that as one of the last resort options if necessary. On the flip side, I don't know anyones name really from here to youtube unless it's very distinct, or the picture is the same haha.

I have owned a Royal Everlast 8300 for 4 years now and I love it.


 


The Genuine Royal cloth HEPA Type B bags are rare and hard to find which makes them quite expensive.


 


I get my Genuine Royal Type B cloth HEPA filter bags on ebay. They fit perfectly in the Royal Everlast machines.  Note: The listing states that these are paper bags but they are really filterette cloth bags.

Another vaclander confirmed that the royal B bag is the same as a hoover A. Also the aerus luxlight and fresh era/hoover lightweight commerical all have rebranded bags. But of course, they are all paper except for the royal B. However! They mentioned the "perfect" brand has bags that fit as well. 9 hwpa cloth bags for 17.99.

Thank you for being a watcher! I really enjoy making videos, especially the way I like to communicate my thoughts. I'm sure I will be impressed. Just worried about the noise level. As another YouTuber said, at times the noise of some loud vacs feel as though they aren't worth the cleaning performance. Or they are more distracting during use so you can't really get a good understanding of feel.
