Dyson DC01 :)

Got it for a Whole $25 which here is a STEAL in perfect condition, little magic eraser and new filters and boy does it go - biggest surprise is how quiet it is compared to the newer DC40 I won.

Ill put up some pics shortly :)

The Dyson Dc01's

Are my most favourite Dyson! They are very solid, groom well and have the perfect amount of suction.
Can't wait for the pictures!

I have to say, that's the first time I have heard anyone describe a DC01 as being solid. I'm not knocking the opinion, I am saying I have never heard such praise for the model.

The same way anyone can say a turbopower 1 is solid!
In my opinion, the dc01's are solid because the plastic is strong where it is needed, for examle the cyclone handle. Never seen one with a crack in!
Guess im not your average collector! :)

Well I have to say I am surprised at that! You lot must have been lucky, because if I had a Pound for every DC01 I've seen at the side of the road/in the dump with the cleaning head snapped clean from the body or the handle snapped off I'd have bought a share in Kirby by now.

I'm not knocking your opinions either, but I can't say I've had any experience to suggest otherwise.

Compared to the Turbopower 2/1000, which was released in the same year as the DC01, it was/is clear to see which one was made stronger.

The two weakest parts of the DC01 was the sole plate and the handle. Not the carry handle, the push-pull handle that one holds to clean with. The sole plates were terrible and if they didn't crack through being pushed over floors and door bars, they would catch against the brush roll, so that the roller made mincemeat of them. I don't dislike the machine, but I have never considered it to be robust.

I had a DC01 for a few years. I liked the motor noise - far quieter than a lot of Dysons after it. My DC03 broke at the handle compared to the DC01. Just couldn't put up with the fact that the DC01 couldn't go under low furniture and taking out the handle each time with the hose was not my idea of quick efficiency in lieu of.

"The two weakest parts of the DC01 was the sole plate and the handle." Sounds right, considering what I've seen in my travels to the dump and curbs on bin day.
