Today I got a Kirby dual santronic 80. Its in good condition but it might have a problem. When I took the nozzle off to look at the fan blades and to see if anything was wrong I decided to spin the fan and the fan was jamed it wouldn't move so I tried again to move it and this time it did move and it worked normal.I figured there was something stuck in the fan blades. I'm going to take it apart this weekend and try it out. Ths serial number on the kirby is 718019. Can anyone tell me if this kirby is early or late dual sanitronic 80 and what year it is.

I can't tell on the age of the serial number. I will tell you this. That in rebuiding Kirbys of this era back in the 80's.
I found that bad bearing plates (the front one) or wrong bearings or installed backwards would cause the fan to cease up tight. I have made that mistake my self. It's been a long
time (probably '87) since I have totally taken a Kirky apart
and replaced the front and back bearings.
I'm sure someone that currently works on them will offer you
some helpful information.
It's a great machine that you will enjoy. The bag is not the
orginal. It looks to be in great shape over all.
Did you get any attachments with it ?

You can shine that baby up with some mother's, and if you want, you can still order a green replacement bag from Kirby, I just got one for mine. It's a darker green than the original, but IMO, a lot sharper looking than the light green original.
