About a month ago there was a small estate sale just 2 blocks up the street from our house so I decided to take a look. Well, I didn't need any rosaries, but the woman must have had about 3 dozen or so. But, amongst other things on the kitchen counter was this lovely. It looks very pristine, and apparently was well taken care of. I've personally never used a slow cooker with the auto shift feature. I know some of you have them and use them. The box and all of the original paperwork came with it along with a few paperback slow cooker recipe books. The paperwork shows the year 1976 on it. The pattern on the exterior is called "Herb Garden".

I just

have a small 4 or 5 quart Rival. I've been using it lately for pot roast. I discovered that searing it first in my hot Scan Pan gives good results. No auto shift. I put the carrots and potatoes all in at the beginning on low. Nine hours for perfect doneness.
Even the onions held together but were tender.

We never had Hamilton Beach products...

however, my late brother was a big H Beach guy....had a canister vac. My "sister in law" used it for years.....had a Hoover..locked it in a closet...never used the tools. I'm sure when he died, and she moved,, out they went. (We're not CLOSE)

I know lots of people swear by Hamilton Beach..they made good appliances.

Well, this slow cooker earned its keep Sunday. The stew was nice and hot, and very flavorful. I also made a pan of cornbread to go with it as well. Very yummy! I definitely think it will see more use in the future.
