Finally after days of cleaning and stripping and repainting my Citation it is finally done. Funny thing is I took the motor to get serviced and cleaned and when I got it back it sounds completely different??? It is the same motor only cleaned and serviced with new brushes and bearings greased. But all in all I think it turned out ok as I am not a expert at painting.

Hey Sam, nice Hoover, it looks great to me! I have one of those as well, with the narrow type bag like yours, which seems to be original, or later replacement. That's a rare find, the last model before the Convertible. I have seen that model with three different bag styles, different materials as well, but they all had the Citation name on them. Those were awesome Hoovers. I'm lucky enough to have a Hoover guru here in town to do the motor work on mine, and it runs smooth as silk. How about a glamour shot with it turned on? Congrats on a great find!

Congrats Sam!  It looks spectacular!  I've never been brave or patient enough to repaint any of my machines...

Does the bag you have on that machine say "Citation"?

If it does, you have a super rare bag!!  Possibly even more rare than the original bag, and a really peculiar bag at that.  I've never been able to quite figure that bag out... check out these old threads where I obsess about figuring them out:

"think it turned out OK"

It didn't.It turned out great! The Citation shows the change from the post war world with warmed over pre war products to the mid fifties with the beginning of change, style and color to the late 50s when more and more was truly 'all new'in the world of consumer goods. It was about 1956 with the 'Forecast Colors'.Happy Hoovering as it Beats as it Sweeps as it Cleans.
