So today I hit up the Goodwill during lunch.

Lately the vacuums have been moved from the small appliance area to the back of the store near the furniture. I keep sort of forgetting to look back there until I've browsed everything else.

Today I walk back there and see the Oreck that's been there for weeks and thought that was all there is. Well, hiding in the very corner behind the shelf was a Kirby Sentria. I was quite surprised, as I haven't seen a Kirby at Goodwill in probably a few years. I looked at the price expecting it to be $40 - turns out it was $9.99!

I figured that was a steal, so not finding anything else I went up front to grab a cart.

No hose or tools to be found, but that doesn't bother me as I don't have room to store them at this point in time.

I'd kind of wanted a Kirby with Tech Drive for a while, I had eyed some at another thrift store recently but wasn't interested at $45 each, and they had since sold. So I'm happy with this find. It needs some cleaning up, but overall looks fine to me.

@ Alex, funny coincidince we bought the same machine for the same price today. lol
Mine does need some work, some polishing for sure.

@ Edgar! I agree, I have not seen any this cheap. In fact, I paid more for lunch in the McDonald's drive thru across the parking lot after I left!

I looked at the date, it was made in 12/2008. I will need to order some bags, there was no bag inside the unit (probably a good thing anyway).

There's a service label stuck on the back, it appears this unit came to FL via Ohio at some point. (Probably from a snowbird who has since passed or had to go into assisted living.)

Any Kirby under $50-$80 is a deal because if you try and get one on eBay that's how much shipping you will be eating before even paying the vacuum bid.

Wow that thrift store is heaven! I'm lucky to see 1 vacuum at my Goodwill anymore.

I'd grab that Oreck Magnesium and Sanitaire too.

The Oreck has since been sold but the Sanitaire is still there as of today. Both of which were just on my "watch" items but something that I wouldn't buy like right away. But I did happen to buy this Legend II right off the bat for also $10 like the Sentria.

Oh heck yes!

I would have grabbed that Sanitaire up in a New York minute! Like you, space comes at a premium so I concur. You did get the pick of the lot absolutely.May I be the first to welcome you to the ever growing Kirby family?

I think you will like the Sentria.

I do like mine I really like it with the fixed length 12 foot hose. I can really get things done. I use the Sentria more than my Heritage II.

I will get to polishing it up hopefully. I did try some Mother's polish I had on hand already but it did not do a lot. I'll probably have to get a buffer or drill attachment to get through the spottiness of it.

I also learned from experience how to use the belt lifter and take the floor nozzle off. It is far easier to put on and off than I would have imagined, and the belt lifter is a very nifty idea as well.
