Now I can get my colelction out I'm making a spreadsheet with all the details on for my refrence.

I can date machines with the modern ratings sticker on, but not the old ones, there are a few machines I could do with clarification on how to date them! Sure I have something at home somewhere, but I'm at work now!

I have questions over:

Hoover 375 - S/N 3399391
Hoover 262 - S/N D90828
Hoover 875 - S/N B14221
Hoover 119 - S/N K124126
Hooverette 2944 - S/N MH13287

Are those numbers dateable? If so I'd love to know how it's done!

I don't know if there is any order to the serial numbers I am afraid, but the information was contained in some service manuals - I have serial numbers from 1953 - 1963 so I can have a look when I get home, for the 119 and maybe for the 2944.

If the 375 has narrow front wheels it is pre-WW2, if wide wheels post WW2

Sam,

It appears that your 119 predates 1953 (where my records begin) however it looks like it is an early model (judging by the number) it would be around 1951 I think - they were making around 200,000 per annum and January 1953 the number is K514400.

It appears that the 2944 is a very early model too, somewhere around January 1961
