How many people remember this!

I remember cleaning erasers on a similiar type machine but can't say for sure it was the same model as on the listing. Are chalk and black boards even used in schools any more? It has been over 30 years since I have seen the inside of a school. Or is everything done by computer now? or white boards?

I remember being in elementary school when we got our first eraser cleaner and it looked identical to that as well! I used to beg my teacher to let me gather up all the erasers and clean them, which usually I was allowed to! Man, that thing brings back some memories! Thanks for posting it!

we had one of these when I was in elementary school! awesome little machine, quite loud and heavy. but many after school memories cleaning erasers with this machine.

Hi Morgan.

You might recall that I used this as a mystery photo in a newsletter around 2005 or 06. It was submitted by Charles Richard Lester, and he knows far more about it than I do.

Thanks for posting it,

Modern Schools,

unfortunately many have abandoned the dusty concept of a Black-Board and chalk. My elementary school still had black boards (Really green in color), but the teachers used the dry-erase boards. Even now they have these computer-connected "Smart" board things, like a giant electronic or what-not. In my opinion it's just more electronics to burn out on you!

Oh my gosh-just about any school I went to had one of those-esp liked using that eraser cleaner instead of beating the erasers outside on the outside wall.Sometimes----the eraser cleaning sessions turned into earaser FIGHTS-we threw the dusty erasers at each other-us kids.We would be covered in chalk dust.Even with dry erase boards-you can still get some dust-the ink in the dry erase crayons dries on the board--and turns to dust when you erase it-just not as much.I guess I am old fashioned-no "school" is a school UNLESS they have chalkboards!!!And one of those eraser cleaner machines. Those were fun to use-but there were no eraser fights-that did clean them, though! The dust got on you and the classmates. And sometimes the instructor would use a well aimed eraser to quiet a classroom clown! The big cloud of dust after they were hit!!

Hi Mike Hays.

What a pleasure to hear from you.

For those of you who were not a part of the V.C.C.C in the early days when John Lucia and I were struggling to keep it alive , Mike was a valuable member.

Our first outside meeting was  in May of 1994, that year we returned to the birthplace of the club, The Hoover Historical Center.  I don't know how he did it, but Mike went to somebody and asked if we could see 'the vault,' a place where all Hoover machines, and countless others were stored. It was off limits to Hoover personnel and only the upper echelon of the top Hoover brass got in there. In August of 1980, I was the first 'outsider' to see it, and in 82, John Lucia and I were both given access. When Mike asked me at that banquet lunch, provided by Hoover, Mike work his magic. That was the highlight of the trip for all of us.

Mike, please contact me, let me know how you are, and lets restart a friendship.
