How do I test a rainbow E2 black unit without any accessories?

Weird situation, I actually inherited this unit. It looks an excellent shape but when I plug it in nothing happens. The caveat is that I only have the motor unit and nothing else. I don't know enough about these vacuums to know whether they motor unit can be tested individually, or if it has to be assembled to something else to be able to test.

Can somebody walk me through or provide a link on how to check to see if the unit itself is working, without it being attached to anything else?

If you look at the pic. There is a spring loaded type safety button.
You turn the vacuum on upside down and push that spring loaded button in and tge vacuum should start it up.
If you have a water basin attached will power up the machine.
The bottom looks like it's in great shape. I'd bet it works. This rainbow is the best rainbow vacuum they've ever made.

So you have the most expensive part...(the main unit) and it looks like it's in GREAT shape...If you go to rainvac.com they have all the parts (if you wish to buy them)... But the hose, basin, dolly, PN, floor brush, crevice, dusting brush... it's gonna be expensive but probably worth it.. This model is VERY good and will last the rest of your life if taken care of...when you fill it with water, make sure to fill it about 1/2 inch ABOVE the dome...like the dome is covered and then some...

And if you are new to water vacs, make sure you dump, rinse, and air dry the bin after using it, before putting it away like any carpet shampooer. Don't leave it with water in it. I've seen a few thrift store Rainbows that I had to leave behind because they smelled like an open sewer (left with dirty water in them for who knows how long).

Years ago....

At a thrift store, I spotted one of these that would not turn on. It had the basin, but I did not know then that the thin plastic "blade" that was supposed to be sticking up from the basin, had snapped off. Probably why it was donated.
I returned to the store to get it, but it was too late. It disappeared either have been bought or tossed.
