Well, my Vax/Dirt Devil Kone died on me recently. I thought about using the base unit as a kitchen utensil holder but its cone base still lights up, pity the hand held vacuum has gone. So, with some Argos vouchers decided to buy the Hoover Jovis hand held cordless. It looked like a good idea at the time, but my god it's a bulky thing with a slippery handle despite the ribs built in and what were Hoover thinking when they created the push out paint brushes at the bottom after the dust channel? Doesn't seem to push dirt along into the channel or do a proper job. About the only tool that's worth using is the crevice tool, but that's detachable and has to be stored in the battery charger vacuum cleaner holder. Still its powerful with a 2 speed motor and 9.6 Volts - pity that the daft 5 set LED indicators on the handle makes no sense at all - it isn't accurate at all and really pretty annoying.

Now I have just added the crevice tool permanently as it seems to be better at a worktop crumb cordless vacuum than anything else. Really wish Hoover UK/Candy Italy would get their finger out and build something far lighter and far smaller. The similar handle to the Slalom and Freedom bagless uprights is welcomed, but its a pity that it is slippery despite the ribs set on the top = in the wrong place!

I like the way it looks, but with the dust cup and the "works" on the bottom, I imagine it is rather clumsy and awkward... If you can still find a black and decker flex, I really like them....

This is an example of how bad Hoover has got these days - I am saddened to see it but not surprised at all.

If they could bring back the Dustette they had in the 80s (the grey one) and put a good powerful battery in it they would make good sales, but they won't.

Dont wish it - I wished they could bring back the Junior. They blessed the name on the awful Athyss stick vac to confuse buyers but only the collectors really knew! Hoover would do that - use an older name that meant something to a specific model and give it over freely to dress it up with something else that's either inferior or not suitable for purpose.

The best handheld vacuum i used

I saw a DC30 Dyson handheld in currys for £50 theactual store had the ex demo model and looked good, however I had a corded handheld Electrolux workzone Z61A vacuum 700W with a motorised brushbar, has 2 motors for suction and brush? hard floor mode and stretch hose with crevice tool, trust me it might be bulky, but it performs like an upright vacuum in your hands, it is underpriced at £50! (Argos it)
