HOPELESS TOOLS Chapter 2!

The other day I decided to buy a spare Miele floor head from a private seller off Ebay and it fits my current range fine. However when I opened the box it came in, it came with a rather strange additional attachment that the seller wasn't correct in suggesting it was an adaptor to fit other models. Has anyone seen this attachment before? Sorry the photo I'm supplying here is a stock photo since I'm not at home at the moment. It just seems to provide not much stretch from lockable mechanisms from the handle to the tubes, or handle to the tools, or vice versa. I think it's pretty pointless, but if anyone knows of an actual use that it provides, please let me know.

It does look like an adapter for use of non Miele tools. That attaches to the hose or at the end of the wands and smaller diameter tools (1 1/4 inch) tools will fit via friction on the end. Tools like Eureka or Kemore will fit at the end.

Thats what it looks like to me. Try it if you have any non Miele tools laying around.

Well I have the SCC Micro Car Cleaning set by Miele. I tried what you all suggested but it doesn't make a difference having it or not. On the basis that the friction fit tools fit on friction, there is no need to have this silly adaptor. How pointless! Even when putting it onto the bottom of the suction pipe and before the floor head, is also pointless and doesn't offer anything else than just an additional go-between lock - neither does it offer a stronger lock process. It would have been better if this adaptor had a 32mm fitting for use with other floor heads - that I could have understood the reason behind it.

This adaptor came with my Revolution Power Plus and I have never seen it included with any other Miele cleaner I've owned.

It is designed to be fitted to the end of the electro tube when using the regular floor head or parquet brush. I can't remember exactly the reason for using it and I can't access the instruction book at the moment, but the standard floorheads fit perfectly onto the electro tube without the adaptor.

The electo tube is slightly shorter than the standard telescopic tube, so this may be one reason for it. It may also help protect the plug on the end of the tube from damage by raising it from the floor slightly.

I have an older Revolution in storage and that also has the adaptor, but it's metal.

Thank you so much for your reply sensotronic. Now it makes total sense as to what that adaptor is for, but when it came with the turbo brush I bought, it didn't make any sense at the time. Miele aren't usually that bad with tools etc - which reminds me - does anyone have one of these nifty little covers? Not exactly hopeless but in light of the fact that the GN/FJM bags do seal over (though in some cases not always) when the hose is removed, just trying to garner if anyone has this cover that you put over the hose connection when or if the hose is removed?

I think the 'toothbrush' sized dusting brush/crevice tool combo that comes with today's vacs is worthless. How can someone dust with a pathetically sized brush like that?

Do you have a photo of that you could supply? Im not sure what you mean?

In general-most of the "combi" tools supplied with new vacuums.and those HORRIBLE "Combi" hard floor and carpet tools---please supply a separate tool for each function!!The vacuum cleaner becomes MORE useful!

Yeah but then you'd have no where to store it on the vacuum if you had more than 2 tools - mind you, Miele and others should put the park positions that little bit higher. I've done cleaning myself with the Turbo brush added to the suction pipe and when I want to go back to use the standard 2 way suction floor head, it drags at the back of the vacuum. So when either are swapped around, if the park position wasn't so low down, it wouldn't suspend the floor head downwards, dragging along the floor when it's parked at the back.

I find most standard 2 way hard floor/carpet floor nozzles are okay for what they do though. Some can be really stiff to activate - like Henry's original floor tool - luckily it gets weaker over time though.
