Well, I did it! I came over to Hoover. I fell for this blue Decade 800 and got it. It was in good shape, very little damage to the decal.

I finally finished the cleanup. Laundered the bag, (carefully), wiped down non-electricals and followed the Youtube video for servicing a Decade 80. The brush roll bearings were cruddy. One thing, the handle is black instead of blue. I hope to replace it with a blue one AND find a user's manual.

I plan to use it this Saturday. Kinda sounds a bit noisy; I am sure I reassembled everything correctly. A friend gave me some A bags and out of a small batch of old belts, I found 4 that were useable.

I ordered a set of synthetic Hoover A bags from "electricvac" and they sent paper. They are ignoring my messages.

Apparently, I have joined the Hoover lovers.

Good find! I have one too.

What is noisy is the motor is vibrating the hood, which causes the headlight lens to rattle. That is what you are hearing. All of mine rattle like that too. I thought about finding some way to put a rubber seal or something on it to secure it.

Congratulations!
It looks really nice! I currently have an opportunity to get one that must be very similar. I haven't seen it in person, as of yet. Between my being out of room, and the seller being firm at $40, I just don't know.
I hope you really enjoy yours!

Thanks,

Husky, Rob and Barry. Things came up today, so the "maiden voyage" will be Sunday.

I will order new bearings and switch them out. This one came with plastic brush roll ends. I wonder if metal would be better?

I did try it out right after assembly and I had it on a concrete floor. Maybe that was the beater bars hitting the floor.

More to come.
