Hoover windtunnels

I was wondering if someone could give me some info on the 90's to the 2000's hoover wind tunnels.
like what are the features on the supreme model?

what is the wind tunnel lite like?

what are the differences between all the models?

any help would be appreciated.

There is a hoover wind tunnel lite that is sitting in the cleaning closet. it hasn't been used for a good 10 years. last time it ran it worked perfect. Is this vacuum any good?

The early Windtunnels are usually well respected vacuums by many collectors. They are cumbersome and loud but they do the job. I have two of them, both self-propelled models, and they are as heavy as a boat anchor but they do a great job grooming trampled-down dog hairs out of an outdoor patio rug pretty good. The self-propulsion is also pretty speedy and it can leap out of your hands if you don't get a grip on it!

I've had this green one for 2 years, hasn't been run since this video, but I liked it for the time I used it. Hope to get it going again eventually this year.



I am sure other collectors that use theirs every day can provide better history and statistics than me.

CWP brushroll

I would like to find a CWP brush roll for my wind tunnel, i hear they are a lot better than the cheaper brush that is on the vacuum already.
How would I find one of these brushrolls?

Love them

I have two one i refurbished and gave to my wife as a daily driver she loves it never had a problem with it. How ever my other one a mach 7.0 does over heat constantly not sure what is going on there but defiantly well recpected vacuums. Defiantly a top performer next to the kirby s

This has been one of the best performing vacuums I’ve owned. I never thought it would have power compared to a Kirby. Being a clean air machine. I always thought direct air machines were most powerful. This vacuum had been sitting in my moms closet at work unused for over 10 years. About 10 years ago they switched office buildings and they now use a commercial Oreck vacuum. The WT was wrapped in thick dust from sitting there for so long. Then one day she brought it home.

I like them pretty well. I especially like the newer SP ones because they remind me of the Panasonic and Kenmore big bulky clean air uprights. Plus they're one of the only current Hoovers that's an older design other than the Decade 80 commercial and the Portapower.

I've never had one of them though.

Goodwill sighting

A few weeks ago I seen a supreme SP windtunnel at GW for 9.99. It was in mint condition and it had all the sales receipts and manuals n bags with it. I don’t what i was thinking to let that one go. I went back the next day and it was gone

Workhorses, indeed. Yes, the self-propelled can certainly 'take off'.

Landlady has a couple, replaced her Concept 1, not my favorite machine, heavy and well some things have snapped off, loud too, but Yes it Cleans!

I was given a green self propelled Hoover Wind Tunnel by a friend. He was the original owner. He bought a new vac & I was delighted to inherit the machine. But bliss was short lived. The motor blew out just a few weeks after I got it! Luckily I had another one that was a bit newer. But the motor swapped out just fine. My Wind Tunnel was reborn, & works just as good as before. Still looks new too!

That is one of the better ones.

I have several versions/models of the Windtunnel. Still great machine. Kinda like a Dial A Matic and a Concept combined in a Cuisinart! The best of them all.

I have had my Maroon colored Windtunnel Self-propelled since 2004. It's been a daily driver all these years and is still going strong; however it's been making a rattling noise when the vacuum whines down.. could be needing to change the roller again, or possibly another issue. With this being a discontinued model, I'm afraid parts won't be available much longer..

It's been a fabulous machine though.. and a really good deep cleaner for a bypass design. The last of the good Hoover vacuums if you ask me..

As ironic as it may sound, I almost never use the self-propelled feature.. I've never found a reason to, when the vacuum has very good airflow and practically propells itself across the carpet on it's own.

I wouldn't worry about future parts availability for Windtunnels. They made that model for such a long time, and TTI (company who owns Hoover now) seems to be doing pretty good as far as making spare parts available for all of the vacuum lines in their portfolio.

I think they are too big and clunky. I prefer the Tempo.

Good to know Bryan, that model definitely had a good run. It would make sense to still keep parts in production
