Not long ago, I wrote a post panning the Hoover Windtunnel 2 bagless. I had a number of objections to it but mostly based on its bogus "never needs cleaning" filter and the faulty science behind that.
Since that time, a couple of the bagged Windtunnel 2's have come my way and I've been able to kinda-sorta evaluate one of those. One machine needed very little work; the other had a broken bottom frame so it's gone into deep storage for the present. The good one cleaned up nicely. It shares the same complicated floor nozzle design as the bagless but I won't go into all that again except to say that on this particular machine under discussion all was well.
This machine has a build date of 02 08, post TTI but remember these are a design that came out of Hoover prior to TTI ownership. They are made in Mexico, and I argue that (nearly) any modern vacuum made in North America is preferable to Chinese product but perhaps I would get some argument there.
This one has good suction and handy features (for some consumers anyway) like the telescoping wand built into the handle. This was done in such a way that doesn't invite weakness as it does in the Z series Hoovers of about the same vintage. The molded plastic parts are so much better than the Chinese stuff.
On the down-side, the machine is a bit bulky and hefty. Also, the Hoover W2 series bags are fairly expensive but that is part of the cost of the improved filtration that these machines provide.
On the whole, I'd say the bagged version of the Windtunnel 2 wasn't a bad machine.
