I was wondering from reading another thread - do the Hoover Slimline and Portable have a pre-motor filter? I've seen photos of the Slimline and they don't seem to have a pre filter, but instead a screen over the fans. I've never seen in a Portable, but I know they used the same motor as the Slimline and D-A-M. It just seems odd to me there's an exhaust filter but no motor filter. I guess it just wasn't feasible.

Slimline/portable

yes the portable has one and the slimline doesn't just a screen, at least that is the way my Hoovers are.. We should ask the Hoover Man (Gottahaveahov.. Aka John Long) But I need some filters for my portables.. does anyone know where to get some??

I'm looking at both a Portable and a Slimline

On the base, to the left side of the switch, is a little door.  I've replaced mine often.  All you need to do is go to a hardware store or H Depot, etc, and get the thi black air conditioner filter.  Cut it to fit, and place it inside.  They work very well.

Thanks for thinking of me to ask a question.

Slimline/Portable

From the hinge down these are basicly the same. The Portable would also use a filter behind the Type J bag that is pushed past the 2 bumps on bottom. It has a cardboard frame with crossbars that resembles a ladder as it is sometimes referred to.First Slimline had no cardboard cover with tool storage holes and motor wrapped in colored paper.
