Ben, the Hoover PortaPower III was actually pretty common in Canada....it sold in Zellers for $169.99 in the mid 90s. I actually owned one for a couple years - nice vac, but the bag size and poor filtration led me to pass it on to Mom and traded her for a nice Hoover Elite hard body upright with HEPA Cloth bags. When I had mine, I upgraded the single row brushroll to a double row brushroll, and bought metal Hoover wands to replace the plastic PN wands, and kept the plastic wands for my floor brush.
Antoine, that's a really nice score you got there! What vacuum did you scavenge the longer hose from to transplant onto the Hoover ends? I never did like the coiled hose on that vacuum - it would shrink up like a upright hose when doing furniture cleaning with the upholstery tool.
Here's something either of you probably didn't know - did you guys know Hoover made a Style R reusable cloth shakeout bag for these cleaners? Yup, it's true! One of the few Hoover canisters that had that option.
