Yep, thats a Portable alright! Can you imagine dragging that beast all over a large home,or even a small home, up and down stair, doing the stairs with it, ect. No thanks! They are cool vacs tho, i knew alot of people that had them in the 60s,and 70s.
A neighbor we had once had the Eureka version of the Portable, i think it was called a Crown Princess? It was round where the Hoover Portable is rectangle. The Crown Princess was cool too,,,and it was equipped with the Vibra Beat carpet nozzle,,and had the seperate floor brush, and regular carpet nozzle. It also had the retractable cord,,and some sort of cleaning selector switchs and gadgets. The one thing the Crown Princess couldnt do was store the wands,,but it did store the hose, and cord,,the attachments rode on the top on a removable Tool Pak like other Eureka cannisters of the time.
The one main problem with both the Hoover Portable, and the Eureka Crown Princess was they were hard to navigate and pull around furniture and doorways. They were always getting hung up on something. Fun to play with tho!
