I have a Question about a Hoover help mate hand vacuum. it belongs to a lady from my church and it is very noisy. The noise CAN be temporarily stopped if you squeeze it around the middle below the handle and then tap the nozzle gently on a hard surface. It does not smell bad or get hot so I cant figure out what is causing the noise. can anybody tell me what they think the problem might be? Thank you!

This is a straight suction 120v dustbusterish thing right? Like one of those things built into the concept II uprights? I'd guess something might be loose. I'd rip into it and see if the motor got loose and then check the outside screws.

I suppose motor problems could also be the cause, but I don't see why squeezing the casing would effect a motor related problem.

also check the Fan on the motor as it might have some debris in it such as caked on dust, Dust that is caked on to the fan will throw the motor and will tend to vibrate and become LOUD!!!
