I hadn't noticed the difference until someone else mentioned it. Notice the straight sides of the Elite model U4059 hood (Maple Sugar color—with headlight) and the concave sides of the Deluxe model U4005 hood (Stellar Blue color—sans headlight). The two were among those sold from 1973 to 1975. Are both styles known as the "full" hood?

I’m no Hoover expert, but I think the wider hood with the wider headlight and flat sides came first and still had the rear slot for the hose like the classic Convertibles. The blue version with the concave sides I thought debuted many years later, and did not have the rear slot for the hose.

I always preferred the first version…thought it had a more sleek “nose” than the later one.

Thanks, John & Brian.

I understand that they are not interchangeable, so maybe the base style or screw holes are also different.

Picture 1 - "Elite" has the high-performance motor in it. Maybe, the newer design was to coincide with that. I think there were several different designs. I got a plastic base Jc Penney convertible this past weekend and the hood is different than the two posted. [this post was last edited: 10/9/2023-15:01]

Sounds logical, Kenny. Thanks!

What model is the gold Eureka, or is that a MW?
