Hoover Constellation S3345

Has anyone noticed that the Hoover Web Site is showing the Hoover Constellation Stainless machine for $249.95 under it's canister listings. I thought they had discontinued the new Connie. I got my Stainless machine almost 2 years ago as a gift and it was bought from the Hoover Web Site as a "close Out" machine.
I like to play with my new Connie's in my basement where the vac collection is kept,but I never use it upstairs because it blows dust on the floor and it catches on EVERY surface going from a rug to floor and then back to a carpet. Thank you Fred for getting me to "love" the Connie's.Mine seems pretty powerful and its fun to watch it float. Always have to trade off between the white or the stainless machine.

I got 3 of them

One stainless steel and 2 pearl white ones. They are listed in Cannisters, but, I believe they're all gone. One was only $20.00. I was told they were going to "color" them again, but, I think that was just a story. Thay SHOULD have marketed them better.

I agree with you. I don't think they did a good job of marketing the "new" Constellation.
I thought it was sad that over the years Hoover took a top of the line unique vacuum and kept making it cheaper and cheaper and cheaper and cheaper until at the end you could buy a new Hoover Constellation for $29.95 in the discount stores. Much like they did with the upright Convertible. It did not do much for their puplic image as a premium company.
Also wish they had used "real" Hoover tools.
I do like the sound of the new Connie and I think it has more of a "real" Hoover feel and look by todays standards.
I found an old advertisement I had from our local Indianapolis department store when the Connie first came out and the price was $89.95 which if you use the inflation calculator would make the new Connie cost $713.35 in todays money! It would be wonderful if they were built in colors and corrected that wimpy rug tool. Of course then I would have to buy another one!
Can you imagine a new Constellation with a power nozzle-wow!Rob

I can imagine bags becoming full really fast with a power nozzle, yet it would be AMAZING.

IIRC, Tom Gasko mentioned a prototype Constellation in the Hoover vault that DID have a power nozzle, which by the time they were discontinued (1975) wasn't uncommon for a canister at all. In fairness, the turbotool does a pretty fair job on a low-pile carpet. It's a shame the Connie was so short-lived the second time around. I would have much preferred that as an anniversary model than the plastic garbage they offered. Maybe even a gold-plated version of the stainless steel connie.

A "real" floor nozzle would be great. I DO like the tools, however. The bristles are great, AND they have the LOGO on them. The stainless steel tools are better. I was told, and, it makes sense, that things like "Carpet Fresh" killed the Connie. Think about all that powder blowing everywhere. I have about 10 Connies..the suction is fab. A great cleaner. TTI SHOULD re-visit it. hmmmmm

Pearl white connies

Does anyone have one they want to sell? I have two stainless steel connies but can't seem to find a pearl white one. I have always liked Hoover Constellations. I have several old connies. My Favorite being the tilted Lemon yellow/Beige one. I have found recently that they made two different Constellation 86's The one Harvest Gold one and a Blue model. The Blue model is cheaper I guess because it doesn't have any place on the machines to store the tools, and the tools are cheaper (no dusting brush etc.)

I am sure there is a way to rig up a power nozzle option with the new ones. I do absolutely LOVE mine though. I got it two years ago when for $150 I think when they were a "closeout" item. The turbo tool is GREAT for a turbo tool. I do not understand why everyone disses them so much. I have a very deep shag, and it doesn't bog down when you use it on it, it keeps going, and grooms it very nicely. And I do agree with John, the tools really are great. The bristles on the upholstery tool are really good on pet hair, and the dusting brush has SOFT bristles for actual dusting, unlike most new machines. I really have no complaints on mine, it really is a neat and great vacuum.

GREAT for a turbo tool...

I HATE anything turbo powered, but hoover got it right when they made that one. Until you suck up a screw and have to take it apart to get it out of the turbine..haha
