Hello. I have a Hoover Concept One Model U3335. When I went to turn it on today, the headlights worked, but the motor made a low pitch humming noise. The noise sounded like the buzzer on old tube clock radios. Does anyone know what might be wrong here?

The motor is stuck. The hum you hear is the 60Hz line frequency, the motor is clearly trying to spin, but can't. For whatever reason, idk.

I forgot to mention, don't keep it on for more than 10 seconds or so, or you'll burn up the motor. You could always try hitting it, or while it's off and unplugged, try rotating the motor by hand to free it up.

There's a slight possibility it's the brushes if it hasn't been used in many years, or if it's been in a moist environment. Otherwise, probably the bearings.
Does this machine have one motor or two? If it's just one motor, flip it over and try turning the motor shaft that turns the brush roll belt. On occasion, a motor might stick on the brushes and be freed easily. Might even try running it with no belt - brush roll might be stuck, but I doubt that.

Take it over to Adam or Evan at the Vac Shack on South 2nd Street(my vacuum store until I sold it to Evan). It's probably something in the fan housing. It would NOT be the carbon brushes.
