Good step-by-step instructions take you through complete disassembly; a must have if you have never taken one apart, or have always wanted to but didn't know where to start! Power drive special wrench

What page did you see mention of the special wrench? I briefly skimmed through the manual and didn't see anything. I don't recall needing any special tools, other than a 1/2 inch offset box wrench to un-do the power drive cable. But unless that's broken, you shouldn't need to mess with it.

I'll eventually buy that manual and I totally appreciate the tip. I actually heard of it where I get parts to fix other people's vacuums.
