Yeah, it's not that big of a deal to replace. If you remove it altogether, the machine will just be noisier. I think there are maybe 3 nuts that you need to undo in order for the bottom "pan" to drop off. At work, our printer toner comes wrapped in a grey foam that's similar to what was in the Celebrity. I've just cut a new one, glued it in place, and re-assembled the machine. Any type of foam should work -- just make sure it's porous enough that air can escape -- it is the exhaust air, after all. Impeding it too much could cause the motor to overheat.
