Hoover Carbon HEPA Y bags

I got a Windtunnel awhile back and was thinking about getting these Carbon HEPA material type Y bags to use in it. I remember reading good things about them on here.

I was just wondering why it seems no other bags have employed this carbon HEPA material? Does it really help prevent odors? I notice my HEPA bags always stink as do paper bags after a while.

I got the activated charcoal pellets from the pet store awhile ago but they didn't seem to help.

Manufacturing cost. Too much cost to produce. They would lose money on every one they made. The vacuums those bags fit are at least 20 years old now.

As for the activated charcoal, you might need industrial strength pellets suited for odor removal more than pet store stuff, and you have to use it every time after you vacuum (sucking them into the bag) so that it gets layered between the dirt. Using it once won't do much for the bag as it's too big of an area. Also a lot of vacuum odors get cooked into the motor windings from contact with the airpath more than the bag, and then it gets released as the armature heats up - that's one of the reasons people can smell "pet" vacuums just from switching them on.

What vacuums are over 20 years old? There's plenty of vacuums that still use bags, the Windtunnel Self Propelled in question is from 2012, and they've only been discontinued about 5 years now, And there are other bagged Windtunnels currently in production.

I get the production costs would be higher but it's still odd to me that Hoover only seemed to do this with their Type Y bags, not on Type S, or others, and it is odd that they're the only one I know of that tried it. Doing a search for carbon HEPA bags I find no others.

huskyvacs definitely has made a point here. There are lots of older Hoovers now like the Concepts, Celebrities, Elites, or Spirits for example that most people don't use much anymore.
