Now, if I were to get an anniversary model, this would be it. I like self-propelled machines. I saw this one in Sears a couple days ago and noted the loop style handle. I prefer the shape of the original SP WindTunnel handle actually... I like the way it tapers off at the tip. I think the loop style is overused in general, and especially not necessary in an self-propelled. Maybe it does help pull the machine back with the tranny off, but I'm thinking more for aesthetic value. But, it is a great color. I thought this might be the anniversary model because of the color and the real emblem instead of just a sticker, but I had no way of knowing for sure because the floor model wasn't displayed with a box. I'd think someone in the factory could have at least taken a black magic marker and scribed "Celebrating 100 years" on the bag cover!

isn't it abundantly clear how much better the "old" tools are? I mean, just look at the floor brush. The new "Miss Connie Hoover" does have nice tools, though.

Thanks for the pictures. I had a hard time making up my mind but I didn't have good luck with my Self-propelled Windtunnel.
I loved seeing the comparison. My parents have a Dail-a-matic powerdrive they got about 1972. It's still working after 36 years. The bearing are getting a little loud but it still works. Theirs is brown and orangish color. It was considered very top of the line and modern at the time. Love that blue color on the new machines!

The newer self-propelled gearing is not the greatest and does
strip out after a few years of use. It must be the plastic gearing that is used, where as the dial a matic's gearing lasts for the life of the cleaner. Also still looking to get the Wind Tunnel powernozzle canister, the lower level of our house is all laminate and hardwood floors with area rugs. See everyone next week in North Canton!!!!! Travel Safe!!!
