hoover 300 and 26 restoration

Hi guys I have these 2 beautiful hoovers that I am restoring together and I have a lot off questions about dos and donts when it comes 2 hoovers as far as paint and polish cords and bag care I have restored many beautiful old kirbys but these are my first hoovers that I am d oing that are older then a convertible yes lol and also we these machines sold together at there production time . I would love any advice from you Hoover masters out there . Thanks Dennie

I'm not an expert, but thinking that the 300 may have been the less-expensive companion to the 150. I believe the 300 was manufactured during the same period as the 150. The 300's attachment hose is almost identical in design and color to that of the 150.
I think that the 26 may have come along just a bit later.
Every 300's motor cover that I have ever seen, has been painted in a wrinkle-like, somewhat dull black finish.
What I have done with later model Hoover's, similar to the 26, is to find some original paint on the underside and have it computer matched and filled in a spray can. Some automotive paint stores can do this.

Hoover 300

Bernie's right, the 300 was sold at the same time as the top of the line 150 and the mid range 25, and was the last of the "coffee can" Hoovers. It was actually introduced in 1935 with the 825 and 475 and had a 4 year run instead of the usual 2.
The 26 was the midrange model that was introduced in late 1938 and sold next to the top of the line 60 and bottom of the line 305. It was often advertised with attachments as the Ensemble in Brown.
