Hoover invented the clean air uprights with a Dial-A-Matic, so that is the first. A-Bag Convertibles I think was the start of true top-fill bags. The Elite was very influential on the vacuum market. I think the Windtunnel really bought the clean-air upright to today's level.

What about the electronic canister? Didn't Hoover have the first electronic vacuum?
