My neighbor has a 2 year old Kirby Sentria. She had the full kit and kaboodle and wanted to shampoo her carpet. I offered to show her how.

1. She hadn't changed the bag since she owned it. The bag was so full you couldn't bend the handle. I ran to the Kirby shop for bags HOLY CRAP X100! 2 bags were $12.98

2. The dirt was compacted down the dirt port and into the sweeper head completely packed around the brush roll.

3. At some point it had vacuumed water and the dried dirt had to be sliced out with a putty knice.

4. The brush roll was covered in hair and carpet fibers so deep the brushes were not visible. I cut the mass with scissors and pulled it loose from the brush tuft by tuft.

5. Reassembled the unit and fired it up. I haven't Kirby'd in 15 years. I had no idea they are so quiet, light weight or self propelled. What a dream. It also seems the foot print of the brush roll is a touch smaller making the carpet lift more impressive

6. Hooked up the shampoo attachment. I must say the top mounted emptor and shampoo basin is so much easier to attach. Turned it on and it looked like an I Lovy Lucy vingette as the suds poured out the front and began to obscure the front of the cleaner. The on and off switch for the foamer is a nice touch. In no time the carpet was cleaned. Visibly cleaned.

Secret I'm still on a honeymoon with the Miele but don't be surprised if you catch me see a Kirby on the side.

I ran into a clogged Kirby G6 at a vacuum service place several years ago.The person who owned it was ill and bedridden for several months-her grandkids took over the home chores.The Kirby G6 was turned over to the vac place for service.The shop owner asked me to try the machine-It was STILL picking up!and despite the paper bag had BURST from the overfilling-the cloth bag was like a brick!A new bag and cleaning out the cloth bag and brushroll-replace the belt and the machine was fine.That vac store owner also encountered literally "holy Crap" when she got a TriStar vacuum from a college kid household who used it to clean up after their puppy-they picked up the puppy poo with it!The shop owner says that was the worst mess she ever dealt with.another vac place got a vacuum from a hamburger place-Carpet Pro upright-that the vacuum was used to pick up a hamburger a patron dropped onto the restaurant floor--What a mess!And a Sanitaire vacuum fram another restaurant picked up a mouse-probably alive--half of it was in the fan chamber-the other in the bag.(cloth dump bag)

Not a surprise for vacuums in food places

I used to get commercial Sanitaire and Commercial Hoovers
in my shop. Used to have to cut the grease out of the fan
chambers. Have even seen the fan chamber so cramed packed,
that the fan blades had no Points on them. They would be
completely rounded, like they had been filed down. I just
kills any vacuum cheap or build for the job.

What is WRONG with these people?

Do they think vacuums empty themselves??!!! Mice? Dog poop? Hamburger? GROSS!!

I could tell you a story (and I guess I am going to...) about two psychologists I used to clean house for. Mr. used to throw his used condoms under the bed. I won't go into detail, but cleaning a powernozzle out after motoring over a pile of used condoms is NOT fun. Lesson learned: I never again stuck a vacuum attachment of ANY kind under a bed without getting down and LOOKING first at what was under the bed.

My sister used to wad up her old uneaten peas (she hated 'em) and throw them under the bed. One day my mother stuck the crevice tool of our Hoover Model 31 under the bed and encountered the peas/napkins, etc. Luckily, they only got stuck and didn't get sucked all the way in. PEOPLE ARE STRANGE I tell ya!!....

It was kinda ironic-on the vacuum that was used to "eat" the hamburger-there was a sign on it that said-"This is not a MAGIC Vacuum cleaner-please check the bag before and after you use it"Someone at that restaurant sure checked the bag???The remains of the burger was in the nozzle,the hose going into the bag chamber-not hardly any of the burger was in the bag-or ---vacuums "stomach"Now vacuums used to pick up Condums? makes the mice and burgers,doggy poo seem like nothing.When I used to sell TriStars a custormer wanted to trade in his Rainbow.He says-"that vacuum was great-used it to clean up after my dog and simply emptied the water container!"I did not want that Rainbow as a trade in.He did not buy the TriStar-just as well probably would have suffered the same fate as that TriStar used by the college kids to clean up after "doggy"So many folks out there need a truely MAGIC vacuum-it picks up anything from bricks to doggy poo,self empties,and NEVER breaks or clogs.Rainbow dog seems to forget the doggy stuff still in the hose that didn't make it to the water trap.And wonder what that Rainbows motor is like!!
