My Aldi had one EASY HOME upright vac in unopened box marked down to $27.99. Couldn't resist. I try to post pics when hubby isn't around (something about too many vacuums too little use)

I have a feeling I know which one it is. I have 3 ALDI Easy Home vacs. Their Bissel clone, their Shark clone, and their cordless whisk broom.

That Easy Living looks a lot like one of the BOL Kenmore bagless upright vacuums.

For $27 brand new, that's the cheapest you can get an upright vacuum that isn't a toy, yes. But it isn't without its flaws. It doesn't have the power to pull deep and it just feels flimsy. The brushroll also doesn't go totally to the floor on low pile carpet so I think they only made it for your standard "realtor beige" generic carpet. It really only gets the surface. A Kirby will outlast it by far.
It works good enough for the price of a pizza, but I just really don't like it. I got it more for the novelty than anything else. Not too often department stores invent their own vacuums. It fits in with my other misfits like the Sunpentown and Garry.

I finally got it out of the box after 3 months. I figured the warranty would be over anyway. I am pleasently surprised! Packing was excellent, most of the assembly instructions were clear. BUT in the bottom of the box was what looked like an after motor filter and holder. It did not seem to fit anywhere and the instruction made NO mention of it. It fit inside the motor unit and anyone who wasn't ocd with this stuff would never have figured it out. I find the suction to be very strong and the head would suck itself to the surface if I put weight on the leading edge. I cleaned half an oriental and it almost filled cup. It's light weight, not loud, very easy to push and pull. The lack of headlight is off putting but I'll get used to it. It did a very good job on hard floors. Oh yeah the warranty is for 3 yrs with shipping included. I'm happy with my $27.00. I might try the canister if it ever goes down cheap.

If you can afford it or you find it on markdown, their more powerful bagless vac is a great improvement over the CJ598.
The belt snapped on mine after getting the brushroll tangled on a rug earlier this month, but I suspect the belt is a pretty common size. It has great suction power though despite its loudness. It really shines when using the hose, I used it to clean out my kitchen cupboards and ended up with an entire cup 3/4 full of dirt, hairs, and fine particulates.
