Hi vacuum family and friends. After my two-year absence from this site, I'm back in business. It was the fact that my vacuum interest started to wain after the majority of my collection was decimated when my mom donated about 20 machines to charity after being in storage in her finished basement which caused me to take a "leave of absence."
Anyway, my current collection is pretty small (around 15 units), and is going to remain small as I don't have the desire to have a huge collection of machines again, plus my better half is tired of his office being used as the vacuum storage room!
The newest addition to the family is another Kirby Heritage II in near showroom condition. I found it on Craigslist and it was being sold by someone in my neighborhood. All of the accessories and manuals were included including the original VHS tape. A new belt, brushroll, and general cleaning were in order for it and it joined my newer Heritage II and the rest of the Kirby's in my family.
I also scored a Dimension 1000 S3283 in excellent condition. I went through it and gave it the usual clean and detail and it came out wonderful. I've ordered new belts and filters for the three Dimensions I have. The other two being a green S3491 and a black S3281.
When I say this thing is clean, I mean it! Apart from the usual scuffs on the bottom (the flash exacerbates them), it seems like it was hardly used, as the body is in overall really good shape, bag compartment is clean, motor housing and all related areas were relatively free of carbon dust and all that. Even the friction latch on the power nozzle still holds it upright, when all of the other ones I've encountered don't.
These machines have a lot of sentimental value because I had a Dimension 1000 growing up and stupidly tossed it when my mom wanted a new vacuum cleaner for her housekeeper.
Anyway, hope everyone's doing well, it's good to be back again!
Cheers,
Rich
