I have a very clean Royal 510 hand held vacuum.
The front motor plate bearing is shot (chatter, noise and binding) and I would like to replace the bearing to keep this little gem alive.
Can someone offer assistance in a new or used replacement part or know of someone who can fit a new bearing?
Thanks!

That's a tough one! My main supplier hasn't had those since 2000. You are better off scouring an old vac shops bone yard for a parts donor. Stupid question, but you have tried oiling it right?

Parts donor

Unfortunately, it looks like Techtronic Industries (TTI), Royal's new parent company, has no interest in keeping these legacy products alive. Belts and bags (mainly for the later plastic ones) seem to be readily available in OEM and generic flavors, but that's about it.

Your best bet will most likely be to find another one on the cheap and use the best parts from both to build one good unit and then you'll have a nice parts cache left over for future repairs. It will definitely be more cost effective than ordering scarce replacement parts because market economics dictate that as the supply goes down, the price goes up. The good news is the machines themselves can be had very affordably. I picked one up at a thrift store a month or so ago for $3. It was in nearly perfect shape except the belt was stretched out.

Happy hunting! You just never know what will turn up.
