Help! Rainbow e2 Gold leaking water

Hi Vacuumlanders,
My friend recently purchased a 2nd hand e2 Gold Rainbow (2 speed) from marketplace. The machine turns on and runs, but everytime after a few seconds it sucks water out of the basin and blows it out the back of the unit, into the HEPA. We have scrubbed the seperator and made sure the gasket is seated. There is a red light blinking in the back grate of the unit, but I haven't been able to find out what that means. Any help with teh water and the light would be appreciated. Photoa are attached below to help with diagnosis.

You should be using cold water only. The water fill line is to the top of the bubble in the bottom center of the basin. If the water is even a little warm, some will evaporate when the machine starts up, resulting in water drops in the exhaust.

Be sure to run the machine on HI speed with the hose attached. LO speed can be used without the hose attached to clean or scent the room air. And always use the machine with a clean HEPA filter on the exhaust.

Also, the blinking red light is normal. I have this machine. I will say this...if you got that second hand...I'd have it serviced...as in taken fully apart and cleaned inside and out...You can go about 1/2 inch over the fill line and yes..cold water only. If you're already doing all these things and water is still getting sucked out the back...something definitely wrong.

Check the hepa

Be sure to check the hepa filter seal. There is a rubber seal around the oval hole that could be missing. The hepa filter will still sit in place and look correct but with that seal missing could cause the water flow. The redight is normal.

I had an E2 black a few years ago that had this issue. I contacted my local distributor / repairman who couldn't even figure it out and he ended up replacing the entire motor assembly under warranty. If I remember correctly, it might have had something to do with the motor not spinning fast enough?

Yes, water should not be getting through the separator like that. If the separator is not itself defective, then vacman117’s suggestion of the separator not spinning fast enough could explain this.
