I got this Bosch BS 33 today as a gift. I thought i knew all vacuumcleaners, but I have never seen anything like this at all. It came with the original instructions manual, which tells me there were 4 different models. Does anybody knows something about this machine. I think it is a seventies model.

The Bosch Delta canisters

Hey Edgar,

congratulations to this rare specimen. They were called the "Delta cleaners", some design prototype going into production more or less right away (or at least after some quick spiffing up of details). They are rare, we had them around for just a few years. (Looking "too" modern in the 70s, they did not sell too well).

The basic idea was to have anything "air stream" (filter, motor, exhaust etc.) in one straight line and everything "electric" on top of that (switch, filter light, cable connectors).
Another "new" thing (back then) was to have it bumper protected at all critical spots, not just having a small vinyl stripe around the body as had other brands.

Hence the black vinyl foam "tub" all around, the plastic body in the middle was either midnight blue, salmon coloured, corn yellow or cactus green like yours.
Model variations would comprise with or without cable winder, w. or w/o. electronic speed control, w. or w/o. bag indicator light.

Btw. the combo floor nozzle that you have there was added later (white body and black front bumper). The original Delta nozzles were all black and not so large in their surface. (Or this one would sell only with the top model of the four).

That is all I know from memory, it's been a while since ;-)

hi joe

thanks for this info. The nozzle does belong to it. according to the instruction manual only this one and the 35 edition had this nozzle. i think it is rare indeed, and think i will hang on to this one. So i was correct about the seventies
