Hey there, Do you know that I have a Kirby Model 2C of my very own, with the factory original bag and a complete set of attachments. The only major problem with it is that I am in Desperate Need of a Kirby 2C or 1C armature. My Kirby 2C has a bad armature because when I turn on the motor, It runs much slower than normal speed and a burning electrical smell is noticeable. If someone out there has an armature for a Kirby model 2C or 1C, that Would be great? I'm on the lookout for one and I'm in desperate need of one so that I can use my Kirby 2C. Strangely the problem happened after I disassembled the vacuum for a complete buffing and polishing, when I reassembled it and tested it, that's when the problem was first noticed.

As to finding a headlight hood trim, I'd recommend using a replacement headlight hood trim for a Kirby 505 through 515. They usually come in tan, but just spray paint it black and cut it down to the length that you need, then fit on and there you go.

One thing to keep in mind is that a Kirby 2C armature will only fit in a Kirby 2C or model 1C. Do you know where to find a Kirby Vacuum store or service center that has or might have prewar Kirby parts, like a Kirby 2C armature? Do you know a place that has or might have a Kirby 2C or 1C armature, A Kirby 1C, 2C motor unit, Headlight hood trim, a bumper and wheels for prewar Kirby vacuums? I am not having any good luck finding any of these parts for my machine, Most of all That 2C armature. I've tried so many times to find a place or contact someone to see if it or they had something for my Kirby 2C, but no luck whatsoever. If you have something like an armature, wheels, etc. for a 2C or know where you or I can find the parts, Please Please let me know soon. I would love to know since I'm stuck in the process of restoring and repairing my Kirby 2C.
Thanks From Liam

Interesting Fact

The factory original bag is extremely rare especially because it's made out of corduroy material. Most bags for prewar Kirby vacuums were herringbone fabric, only a few were actually made out of corduroy material.

Are you sure that a 505-512 armature will fit and work in a Kirby 2C? I tried a 510 armature in the 2C motor, however the body of the armature was too big and the shafts were also too big and really the whole thing could not fit, it just didn't work. Only the 2C or 1C armature will fit in a 2C. The whole motor housing, field and armature is a different design on a 505-512 compared to a 1C or 2C. If you know how to get or where to find a Kirby 2C armature, please let me know soon. I'd love to have one so that I can repair my 2C motor.

Note

The armature won't fit. The bags weren't corduroy they were either herribone or duvytene. The 508 was the first curdouroy bag.

To odavid123, If you have a spare Kirby 1C armature or even a spare 2C armature, that would be terrific. Please let me know soon. I am in serious need of a 1C or 2C armature. I do know that the armature in my 2C is bad because the motor runs much slower than normal speed. I know the problem is not with the field because field coils do not usually go bad, armatures do. The problem is also not with the bearings because the armature and fan spins freely when the motor is off. A 1C armature will work in a 2C because they and the whole motor housing and field coil design is identical. If you have something for me, I'd appreciate it and I would be interested in maybe buying it from eBay. If you don't have anything for me, then please tell me where you or I could possibly find the 1C, 2C armature. The strange thing is that before I took my machine apart for polishing and lubrication, when I first tested the 2C, it was actually working perfectly.
