Hey all,

I have received a number of responses to my video (Thanks!!), but this morning I got one from a user called "ConsumerReporter". After watching his video, he does not report nor is a reporter himself. Instead he is a vacuum cleaner salesman who pits his brand against other popular ones. I find this odd because he's claims to poke through the lies of vacuum manufactures when he's actually lying about his credentials.

At any rate have you watched any of his movies? What are your thoughts on these videos? Just curious and wondering why it bothers me.

Maybe I'm bored, off to spend my state tax refund. Matt :-)

I have seen him....

He's hardly impartial, and he's certainly not a Consumer reporter.

He is a MIELE DEALER.

He's nicer to the Kirby than he's been to some other vacuums, and I have to laugh at his test methods. The particle counter on the motor cooling vent is too funny. Like he doesn't know thats the motor cooling vent, and not the cleaner exhaust.
He just wants to sell a Miele!

What a load of B******t!!!!

The man is talking out hi ASS!!!!

The Outer bag was open Which its self is part of the whole Filteration system.
Also the motor vent as none filtered air which is taken in and just blown back out to keep the motor cool its nothing to do with the dirt. The kirby is a sealed unit.

Also when he switches the miele on the hood is up and its not sucking through the bag which has dirt in it.

And to top it off the miele won't deep clean your carpets like the kirby will.

Still he is a miele dealer wonder if he advertises as ConsumerReporter in his shop!!!

If you want to refute...

Hey if you want to refute him and otherwise call him a liar that he is, please do so. I'm not an expert but I certainly know he's not a Consumer Reporter more like a vacuum cleaner sales associate.

I would do!

But I live in the UK and I'm not calling him just to call him a liar which he is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might get around to joining u-tube just to leave a comment.
I know lets all leave him negative comments!!

I know he's slagged off other vacs in the past to.
Ha ho

Fun to watch a true salesman ply his trade. He can call himself whatever he likes. So he does. Gerry Rubin, your YouTube Consumer Reporter. Founder of DirtKill.com.

But...he's been mighty busy the past hour or so modifying his postings...

"Adding comments has been disabled for this video."

Mmmmmm, good for us. :-)

In watching the video clip---Jerry DOESN'T even know his own brand!!!What a crock-showing the partical counter with the Meile vac lid open--course its going to read zero!Readings taken by a "Zero"He is only testing the exhaust filter at that point.and yes--can agree on the tester on the motor exhaust vents-he is reading the "motor brush dust"But doesn't seem to know that---Some "Consumer Reporter"!And also trying to take readings on just the Kirby inner disposable bag alone-should try a reading with the outer bag closed as the machine is supposed to be run.I can also agree the Meile-it is a VERY FINE canister vacuum-it won't deep clean your carpets as a Kirby will.It seem that the partical meter shown is used by "IQAir" filter dealers that sell IQAir Air purifier machines-the meter shown costs about $1500.Its kinda neat-you have to truely know how to use it.It is sold thru the IQair dist that carries IQAir air purifiers. And yes the tester will read zero when held to the exhaust vents on an IQair purifier machine. To sum it up Jerry is just trying to sell the Meile!

i have called this guy...

a few times..what a nice guy and really knows his stuff about vintage too! He's a great guy...if your gonna say something bad about the guy just resist the erge to type a bad comment and shut up..thanks..

Um... sorry, not buying...

That this guy knows his stuff...He is out to sell Miele vacuums, THATS all.

Anyone who REALLY knows their stuff WOULD NOT use a motor cooling vent for a particle count. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the filtration abilities of the Kirby, or any other dirty fan cleaner.

This guy is a salesman, nothing more.

Well, excuse me...

but he doesn't just do Miele, he does Riccar, and Sebo too...he said he is going to get videos of those up soon..so really, lay off

kyle, the man is not 100 percent honest.

some of us have been on the planet for a lot longer than you have, Kyle. we have learned to spot salesmanship and deceit! weve also had longer to learn about vacuums.

He should check his facts first!!!

The Salesman should be sure of his facts before posting his
"fair test" then calling him self a "Consumer reporter"
to mis-lead people who know nothing about vacuum cleaners in to thinking his some kind of "Consumer reporter" and not a sales person.

He put the "ad" out there and posted his link on someone elses Kirby sentria video on U-tube telling people to look at his deceitful video. I WILL NOT "SHUT UP"!!!!!!!!!!

And weather he's nice or not has nothing to do with it..
BS is BS no matter how you wrap it up!!

Whoa whoa whoa...

Ok, let's look at the facts and here they are as I see them:

1. In his video, he introduces himself and then says he's a "consumer reporter". When I think of that, I believe someone works for a Consumer Reports/Consumer Digest or a third party, unbiased person (don't get me started about CR and their methods of reporting). That is a fact.

2. He always compares brand "X" against the Miele vacuum, which is not what a consumer tester would do. You never compare brand A against B. You need to bring in a group of brands and run the same tests in the same environment thus eliminating extraneous variables.

3. He starts out with his particle counter, which I believe is calibrated correctly. However, in the Kirby test, he does use the motor cooling exhaust as a way to refute claims of Kirby being HEPA certified. This is not right to test there as mentioned above.

4. He then says the Miele is a sealed unit due to the gasket around the top of the canister. However, there are two gaskets used on the Kirby, at last on the G6 I had and the Sentria: (1) at the power nozzle and (2) at the mini-emptor. But again, I'm not a vacuum expert.

5. At the end, he bashes the other units (Dyson, Kirby, Kenmore, etc...) by telling you they lie - which is highly unprofessional and rarely used by a reporter.

He may know his facts, make cool videos and upload them to YouTube, but at the end of the day he's a vacuum salesman looking to sale you a cleaner, that's all. This is deceptive and manipulative. Sure he might be nice, give you a great deal on a vacuum cleaner, but if there is one thing I dislike more than anything else is a deceptive person and that is a fact you cannot refute.

Now if he made his videos and started out as Mr. X, owner of ABC Vacuum sales here in DEF city, we're going to test the Kirby against the Miele to see how it compares with filtering agents out of the air. Complete the tests honestly and completely then share them, we have something to discuss. However, as kind as he might be and knowledgeable he is, he is deceptive. Furthermore, he does not allow you to discuss his pseudo-findings by way of leaving comments. To that end, it fortifies the deceptive and manipulative tactics.

These are the facts.
Matt :-)

I'm Not trying to be harsh or anything,but........

If you take a Particle counter and stick it to a paper bag...of course its gonna not read zero. They make outer bags for a reason. I dont care if the guy tap dances for you when u buy s Miele. I just Dont Think its right to put a company whom i love and support. If i could have only one vacuum and it was ethier a
Miele or a Kirby...id rather have a Kirby..Preferbly a G3(my fav). I luv mine. A Rainbow Salesman gave me some wise words once. If you sell a product. Tell the truth about it and be honest with your customer. If your gonna try to put a Good ole usa made vacuum down, Your gonna need alot more ammo than that!

David Barnett

I agree completely, David! When my mom and I went to check out getting a used Rainbow, they said that it wouldn't have the nicer features of the new ones (duh...!) and that no vacuum is capable of filtering 100%. We were able to "test drive" the D4 and the E2, but we didn't buy them because both were very expensive and they are messy.

I just find it despicable that this guy doesn't know enough about vacuums to even think of testing the particle count where the carbon brushes and motor is!! And then to not even worry about the fabric that Kirby uses as another filter...surely he knows that the Kirby is quite capable of good filtration like the Miele.

And what I don't understand is why he think anyone would turn around and buy a Miele (maybe $600 or $700?) when they just bought a Kirby (a little over $1000?)...Honestly...

Mr. Gerry needs to go back to the vacuum repair shop and learn a little more before he can accurately claim that a Miele is a better vacuum than a Kirby. And he needs to do a lot more testing against others!

Some people...

Hello All,
I have been following all of the forums for many, many years – Actually since the first days of the VacWeb.Com website – While I have posted to all of the others for years, I never asked to get a logon for the Vacuum Land website… I thought now was the time…

Anyway - Gerry Rubin is the owner of AAA Vacuum Corp of Watchung, NJ – He used to have a store in Westfield, NJ but moved to Watchung shortly after the mall had been built about 2-3 years ago…

He deals mainly in Miele, Simplicity, Fuller Brush, Dyson, Oreck, Patriot, and CVS systems ( To The Best of My Memory)…

He is not my most favorite dealer in the world mainly because he is not willing to deal, at all !!!

I had purchased a new Riccar 1700 Canister as a wedding gift from the Riccar Dealer who was in Princeton, NJ – He was a great guy who loved to talked vacuums, and let me have a new in the sealed carton Riccar 1700 for $550.00 including Tax….

Shortly after, I went to get a Simplicity for myself, I went to Gerry and asked him to match the price on the identical Simplicity Version (S36) –

After going back and forth for 45 minutes he told me if I showed him the receipt from the Riccar Dealer he would match the price – So I showed him the receipt, but blocked the name of the store where I had purchased it from…

He told me he wanted to see the name of the store so he could turn them into Riccar for selling below MAP - I them told him that I knew that “MAP” stood for nothing more than “Minimum Advertised Price” and that the other dealer could sell for whatever he wanted to sell the canister for…

He did end up selling me the S36 for the same $550.00 but he charged me the NJ tax in effect at the time… He was clearly not happy about doing it, but he did…

I should have known better then to go back to him for the Simplicity because before I purchased myself the Simplicity, I had previously purchased my Miele Champagne from him… Not a single penny off the MSRP – No Free HEPA Filters, No Bags, Nothing –

And as a side note - when I was picking up the Simplicity, I had to wait so he could finish showing a customer a Miele – He did the same type of test showing her how bad the Dyson Upright was next to the Miele…

So from my own personal experience, he is not my most favorite person in the world…

Welcome Dan!

WOW, what a story! In my original post, I didn't want this discussion to be one of nasty comments, but I guess my pride and ego was bruised when I posted the Sentria video. It appears to be the only one and so many positive comments were relayed via YouTube. Then Gerry posts his comment telling people to get the dirt on Kirby and how they were liars about the HEPA filtration.

However, what's strange is he (and his followers) can post all the negative comments on my video, but he has locked out commenting on his. This seems a little devious to me. Yet, after all his comments and videos on the Kirby, as well as other machines, one cannot help but see right through his charade.

It comes down to this: At the end of the day, he's just a vacuum cleaner salesman doing what he does best: sale a vacuum cleaner; although very manipulative, devious and fictitious.

So you know what? I'm just going to delete his comments and continue to use my Kirby Sentria with pride. I like it, it does a hell of a job vacuuming, shampooing and works well with the attachments. I'm happy and that's what counts.

Matt :-)

ON you matt... I am personally not the biggest fan of Kirby's but you have the right to show it off with out receiving rubbish about it... He did the same with my Dyson... His ""tests"" are absolute rubbish... They should be placed in his beloved Miele bag
